Tuition and Scholarships

The full tuition for our Pre-School and After-School Tutoring Programs, as well as our Long-Distance Programs is $600.00. A registration fee is required but is then counted as part of the total $600 for all programs in Louisa, VA.. Our strong guarantees:

(a) for the on-site program in Louisa, VA, the full amount paid will be refunded after the first three (3) consecutive days of lessons if the parent or care-giver wishes to discontinue the lessons:

(b) for Long Distance programs (which usually take longer than 6 weeks), a registration fee (to be negotiated) will not be refunded, but the trial period will be lengthened to one week for refund of all but the registration fee, if the parent or group wishes to discontinue.

Each on-site program includes thirty daily 50-minute lessons within a six-week period.

A tutor will work one-to-one with the child and parent or guardian. Our techniques are extremely successful for introducing basic reading skills to preschoolers and for enabling struggling older students to rapidly improve their reading skills. Our students have fun while learning to be better readers. Happy children learn faster and remember better!

Our usual way of teaching our methods to other tutors is hands-on, here in Louisa, Virginia. However, Long-Distance Coaching for Tutors is now tested and is available to anyone who has the ability to send materials frequently by email and/or fax. If you can set aside time during six consecutive weeks in which you’d schedule (1) a daily half hour (approximately) to tutor your child plus (2) another half hour each day for a phone call with Piper Martin, you can become your child’s primary Reading Window tutor, and in just 6 weeks you and your child can receive the “See it to believe it” benefits of the Reading Window methods, no matter where you live. I have available unlimited phone service during several hours each day, so that need not be an extra expense.

Another possibility is to arrange classes at your own site for a group of adults who want to learn Reading Window methodology. Scheduling and cost for that would depend heavily on the distance away from Louisa, Virginia.

We often have scholarships available. Scholarships to date have been provided through the generous donations of The Optimist Club of the Blue Ridge, Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, BAMA Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band, the Food Lion Shop and Share Program, and Twin Oaks Community, plus many private donations. We are actively seeking more funding and meanwhile we are accepting registrations, with fully refundable deposits, to hold your place on our waiting list for a major scholarship.

We will gladly accept payment arrangements over the course of the tutoring sessions, and in some cases continuing after the program has been completed. Payment arrangements are interest free and we will do our best to accommodate any budget.

undred dollars funds the workshop time that transforms a preschooler into a lifetime reader — a person who habitually seeks out and enjoys words on a page. We have found that a child entering the classroom with this mindset in place is equipped to learn and flourish there for the next twelve years.

As a non-profit, our goal is never to turn a child away for inability to pay, Your generous donations help fund Reading Window scholarships for children coming from low income homes.
