What good the Reading Window has done for me!

I have made a lot of progress from working with Piper and the Reading Window. When I first started I read like a robot and I didn’t understand what I was reading because I read so slowly. This is my 2nd or 3rd year coming to this program, although now I only come once or twice a week for tune-ups.

I have improved so much. I love reading and I understand what I am reading. Piper has also helped me with math and now I’m the smartest person in my math class… Piper is not the type of person that sits at home watching t.v., she’s the type of person who wants to help everyone and doesn’t want to stop. She has helped so many people. I have gotten A’s, B’s and one or two C’s since I started coming [to Reading Window]. After about a year of Piper’s help I finally started getting on the Honor Roll.

Thank you for sharing the “Reading Window” method with our family and Zack. He was in the lowest reading level at the beginning of first grade. By the end of that year he was in the highest reading level. He learned to enjoy reading that year.

In no time at all he was reading chapter books. He tested at a ninth grade level before seventh grade started. Now he’s going into the ninth grade and tests at college reading levels.

By the way, two years ago Zack read a seven hundred page book in four days. I knew then that he was good enough already to go far in school.

Since Chase has been attending The Reading Window, I feel he has made great progress in his reading abilities. I am particularly happy to see him not only being able to read a work, but also to know the meaning of the work. Along with this he has been practicing feeling, thinking, or doing as it applies to the story. Knowing these things certainly makes for enjoyable reading.

I feel very positive about the one on one teaching in this program.

Chase is now finishing 4th grade. We plan to attend The Reading Window this summer in order to have a great start to 5th grade.

To Piper Martin,

Some sixteen years ago my son was 2 to 3 years behind in his reading skills development before we declared that “there was a problem.”

As his father, I hadn’t been particularly concerned. After all, he was a very active 8 year old boy – and “we all knew” that healthy boys sometimes lagged in their reading and other school development. But as his reading difficulties remained, his grades dropped, and his frustration at being in school grew. His mother and I started to worry. We sent him off to be professionally tested. We hoped he could be fixed, somehow before it was too late. Upon professional analysis it was determined that while he had some of the symptoms of a dyslexic child, he did not have enough symptoms to be diagnosed as dyslexic. So while we were relieved that he wasn’t dyslexic., he was diagnosed as having “learning disabilities.” Not much of an improvement, really.

Now what? What we did was that we sent him to work with Piper, a good friend of ours who had developed the Reading Window School technology. With her tutoring he learned, within only a few weeks, a new approach to reading that helped him adapt to reading with his disabilities.

Reading Window technology got him over the hump. He went from being a struggling and confused learner to a boy that loved to read. Did his difficulties go away? Was he fixed? No, his learning disabilities are still with him. But today he is a confident reader and learner who this past fall was accepted into a four year state college, something I seriously doubted he would ever do.

Reading Window techniques work.

Sincerely yours,

Dear Ms. Martin,

My husband and I would like to express our appreciation for what you and The Reading Window program have done for our son Will. After just 6 weeks using The Reading Window methods Will’s reading skills have improved dramatically. Not only have his skills improved but his attitude toward reading has become more positive as well. He actually looks forward to reading with us in the evenings now. We would also like to note that by participating along with Will we have learned many of The Reading Window methods which we use when reading with him at home and will use in the future with our two younger children.

The program was very affordable compared to other reading programs available which was very important to us since I am a “stay-at-home mom”. We are certain that Will has learned valuable skills by using The Reading Window methods that will enable him to continue to progress in his reading abilities.

Sincerely,

Dana J.

After only 5 weeks of participation in The Reading Window and Montessori programs, my 3 1/2-year-old daughter, Carlee, is demonstrating a new enthusiasm for learning and reading. Carlee seems to be more mentally stimulated, and this pours over into the rest of her day: she asks more detailed questions, has more patience when problem-solving, interacts more maturely with her younger sister, and takes a great deal of pride in her achievements.

I am very impressed with Montessori teacher Helen Langton’s techniques and demeanor. Also, I very much enjoyed your tutoring session with Carlee, seeing The Reading Window method in action and becoming a believer.
