I learned the Reading Window method last fall after my sister had taken one of Piper’s sessions and made excellent progress in reading. Currently, I am working with a Kindergartener who reads so well for a five year old that I was shocked when it took her a few weeks to learn all of the words in a 62 page book. I certainly hope that a Reading Window School can be established in the near future so many more children can master a much-needed skill – reading.

To Whom it May Concern:

Piper Martin and her Reading Window program is, to say the least, phenomenal.

Two months ago, my ten year old son could not read. He was a fourth grade student reading below first grade level. He now is reading in upper second grade level.

Before we came to Piper, my son Jesse had developed a very low self-esteem. He repeatedly told me and his teachers that he was stupid. He often cried because everyone could read but him.

Jesse had fallen behind in school because of health problems at eight years old. I even allowed him to be put in Special Education to catch him up – all to no avail. It seemed hopeless, until we met Piper in January 1998. He started at 45 minutes to an hour six to seven days a week for six weeks. In a matter of two weeks his teachers at school were amazed at his rapid improvement. He went from reading three word sentences to reading paragraphs.

He has stopped calling himself stupid. He reads books every night. He also greatly looks forward to his time with Piper. Jesse and I never knew reading could be so much fun.

My son, more than likely, would have been among the thousands of children in America that graduate and can’t read. Piper is a true blessing and inspiration to Louisa County and especially to all of the children she has helped. What greater gift could anyone give to a child than the gift of knowledge.

Sincerely,

Anita L. J.

To Whom it May Concern:

I am very excited about my children, Chrystal, Taylor and Nicholas Thacker, having the opportunity to be involved in the Reading Window program. Chrystal, who is in the 5th grade, loves to read, but is a little below her grade level because of her reading comprehension. Nicholas, who has just really begun to read is in the 2nd grade. I think the Reading Window program will help them both tremendously.

…I think it is important to give my children every opportunity to improve their education. After all, they will carry everything they learn now with them as they become adults.

Thank you,

I was interested in an early reading program for my three year old son, Marcus. I was introduced to Reading Windows. Initially, I had some skepticism about the program, but decided to try it for several weeks. Only after three weeks, I saw amazing results. Marcus was able to read a small book with only minimal assistance. The Reading Windows program is wonderful. This is a program that should be available to all pre-school children.

Sincerely,

To Whom it May Concern:

In early 1992 my daughter was in the 1st grade and was in danger of not moving on to second. I was told without extra help and summer school she would not pass. I was introduced to Piper Martin at Twin Oaks and we started evenings and weekends for almost 3 years. Piper’s window method helped my daughter concentrate on what word and the meaning of that word for better understanding and more enjoyable reading. Piper helped her gain confidence as well as fluency. My daughter became more focused in other area’s of her class work also. Piper helped her to use her skills in other daily activities. We continue this method and all the good habits today!

Reading and writing improved so well that she is now in the sixth grade, going to the seventh. Also, Piper tutored my daughter in mathematics where she also used her window method of reading.

I feel without Piper’s guidance and help we would not be at the seventh grade level and my daughter would have repeated a grade by now. We are forever grateful to Piper Martin for her knowledge and professionalism that has allowed our daughter learn her method and enjoy reading as it should be.

Sincerely,

Janice L.

When I was in sixth grade I was reading on a third grade level; it seemed like no one at school cared. My mom decided to start me in the Reading Window program. It took one summer in the Reading Window program and I was reading on a sixth grade level. It took a lot of work and time but it was worth it. The next year school was easier for me and I enjoyed reading more.

The program has a way of making reading fun. It sets goals for you to meet and when you meet those goals you get a reward. Reading Windows is a great way to learn how to read. I would recommend any child that has trouble, or wants to learn to read better, to enroll in the Reading Window program. It helped me and it can help many others.

Sincerely,

Reading Windows,

I have two children who in turn have been helped enormously by Reading Windows. Both of my children are two different types of learners. My daughter Hilary is a very bright child. Loves to learn and is very patient. Well adjusted and has a wonderful attention span. My son Grey seven years old. He is is wonderfully bright, super energetic and unfortunately at time is very hyperactive and has a short attention span. He was tested and scored very high but unfortunately does not have a long attention span which I was told he will someday grow out of. When Hilary attended public school four years ago she started falling behind in reading and the school suggested that I seek help with her reading. they had a summer program at the school but she did not qualify for that program because she had not yet been a full year behind in reading. The Principal of the school recommended Piper to me and told me she had a specific program that she used with the children that she thought would work with Hilary. I contacted Piper through the school and during those summer months Piper taught my daughter and her reading was back on track. So we decided to keep seeing Piper during the school year after school with permission of the principal they met in a classroom. Hilary’s reading level and the most important thing to me now is her comprehension level of what she is reading is wonderful. her ability to sound out words and basically read anything she wants has been a total blessing to me and her. Hilary is now 11 years old and she is half way through the 7th year of Language Arts in an Alpha Omega Curriculum.

This year for the first time in my life I had to teach someone how to read. This in turn is something I had never done before. I had acquired two separate phonics programs, one call Fast Track Reading and the other is the standard phonics from Alpha Omega phonics package. I have worked with my son Grey for two years with these sounds and sight words. His first grade language arts package was to tie everything together and finish up the job on his reading. Grey is a very hyperactive child and has a low attention span. When working with Grey everything you do has to be done in a short period and has to be fast moving and intense to keep his attention. This is not easy to do when you are working with tapes and then you have to turn it around and use other books to comply with curriculum testing. I then again called on Piper remembering what a wonderful experience it was for Hilary to enjoy reading and the excitement she had towards the program Piper was using. I contacted Piper the first week in May, 1997. Grey and I have been meeting with her three times a week now for five weeks. Grey enjoys reading he can remember everything from the lesson and which we reinforce at home day and night without a problem. Piper has taught Grey and I how to use her program. Last weekend Grey read the book Green Eggs and Ham to me with only needing help on a few words. That had to be one of the most wonderful experiences I had ever had not just for me but to see my son’s face when he knew what he had done. This has been a wonderful program for me. My son is enjoying reading and with Piper teaching me this program I enjoy teaching reading to my son. My son asks me can I do my reading. Reading Windows is fun and it was rewarding for him.

Sincerely,
