April 2010 Newsletter

Congratulations to Maria McGinnis!  She is the winner of our Twin Oaks Hammock Raffle.  Thank you to all who participated.  A special thank you to TwinOaks Community for your generous donation.  We raised enough money to helpfund scholarships for two children to attend our six-week literacy program.

A  new poem:

A tutor can toot

But won’t use a flute.

A horn is  O K

For tooting all day,

While you find a reliable route

And you simply survive on fruit.

While you’re here, be sure to check out How to Tutor Successfully in its new and revised edition. We’ve changed the layout and organization of the pages to make viewing the different chapters easier. Look on the homepage for the section labeled How to Tutor Successfully to view the current chapters and their names. The poem above is in the section called “More Fun Without Phonics” in Chapter 6: Phonics.

Feedback from parents:

Now that the boys have completed their 6 week Program, the Reading Window ladies will be greatly missed. This has been an amazing journey for my entire family. They now read everyday, twice a day. We owe that to Reading Window!
